Veterinary Nurses are likely to see a range of wounds in veterinary practice, from simple stitch ups to major trauma.

This course looks at the physiology of healing and how the Veterinary Nurse can begin to develop the team approach to wound management using an evidenced based approach.

We will look at the types of wounds commonly presented to practice, the causes of healing delay and how to best influence the healing process to achieve the right outcome for the patient and the client.

The course will cover:

  • the physiology of healing and dressing selection
  • Initial wound management
  • lavage
  • debridement
  • decision making in terms of open wound management and surgical closure

The course will include essential practical tips to cut through the confusion and help you support your team in their decision making while identifying reasons for delayed healing.
