Anaemia is commonly diagnosed in our small animal patients.

Whilst anaemia may be diagnosed on routine blood work, it can also be a cause of emergency presentation to the clinic with signs of collapse and marked patient instability.

This half day course will cover the basics of anaemia management in practice, including:

  • Clinical assessment of the anaemic patient
  • Interpretation of the minimum database
  • The essentials of blood smear preparation and evaluation in the workup of anaemia
  • Management and monitoring of the common causes of anaemia in dogs and cats
