Patients with acute abdominal pain may present to the practice at any time.

There are many possible underlying causes for this, of which many require urgent surgical management once the patient has been stabilised.  Rapid patient assessment and intensive nursing are required to give these patients the best chance of recovery.

This half day course will cover how the practice team should manage these cases including:
  • Initial triage assessment
  • The role of early analgesia
  • Which diagnostics should be performed and when to be concerned
  • Important stabilisation techniques and specific nursing requirements
