The College of Animal Welfare are pleased to welcome Alex the Cat Nurse to deliver Feline CPD for 2020!  This course will assist nurses looking to enhance their skills when undertaking feline consultations.

This course will be split into two parts:

You will discuss how to make your feline consultations as ‘cat friendly’ as possible. This will include:

  • Giving owners advice on travelling to the clinic
  • Preparing the waiting room to make it as ‘cat friendly’ as possible
  • How the receptions team can help improve the cat owners experience at the vets
  • Setting up the consultation room in preparation for feline patients
  • Handling and restraint of cats during the consultation
  • Recognising feline facial expressions body language and postures

You will discuss some of the common behaviour problems that may be discussed during a routine nurse of vet consultation and any first aid or preventative advice that may need to be given. We will also cover when and how to refer to a feline behaviourist (CCAB). This will include:

  • Excessive scratching
  • Urine marking,  FIC and providing optimum litter tray facilities
  • Conflict in a multi-cat household
  • Case study
