This full day course will be delivered in two parts - 'Administering Chemotherapy in General Practice' and 'Nursing the Chemotherapy Patient'.

Part 1 (Administering Chemotherapy in General Practice) will include the following:

  • Types of chemotherapy & routes of administration
  • The use of a closed system
  • Use of PPE
  • How to draw up drugs
  • How to safely administer
  • Post chemotherapy monitoring
  • Health & safety advice for owners

Part 2 (Nursing the Chemotherapy Patient) will include the following:

  • Common side effects seen in chemotherapy patients
  • How side effects can be managed with supportive care
  • Dispensing of medication at home
  • Identifying when supportive care in hospital is required
